Our family moved to the Middletown valley of Maryland in order to grow our own food. Buying tens of boxes of berries at a time did not work - they started to "disappear" from the fridge in five minutes. As a family of six, it became an issue that not one person could get their share of berries. The only solution seemed to be to start a berry farm.
A high quality berry means it's locally grown, organic, flavorful, and full of nutrients. Berries are not meant to be shipped from Chile or Mexico and then sit in a grocery store display for days at a time. It ruins the unique, flavorful experience that can only be obtained from recently picked, fresh berries.
We also strongly believe in your right to know exactly what is in your food. There are so many unknown chemicals on our fruit in the grocery store. Do you know what is sprayed on your fruit? Did you know that chemicals banned in the US are still produced for export? And yet, they don't put those chemicals on any ingredients lists.
We're organic because we believe that chemicals do not belong in our food. We grow nutrient dense food because it tastes better and has higher nutrient content (see the "Growing Methods" page for more info). And our produce is only available fresh, picked the day of.
WHAT DO WE GROW?
Read about our berry varieties on the "varieties" page. We also grow many other vegetables that we sell and eat ourselves.
